Adjunct Instructor, Geography and GIS, Arts and Sciences - University of Cincinnati Location: Cincinnati, Ohio (on-campus meetings required) Position Type: Part-time, term-by-term adjunct position Posting Start Date: September 10, 2025 Position ID: REQ 99961 The Department of Geography & GIS in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati seeks qualified individuals as term adjunct instructor. On a part-time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member's primary academic functions include teaching, discovering, creating, and reporting knowledge to students. Appointments are renewed based upon departmental need, enrollments, and teaching performance. The department seeks qualified individuals to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses on a part-time basis in geography, geographic information sciences, and related subjects. Teaching modalities include in-person, hybrid, and online formats, with possible day, evening, or online scheduling. Essential Functions: - Conduct and teach assigned courses in geography, geographic information sciences, and related subjects - Evaluate student coursework and provide academic advising - Respond promptly to university communications - Attend minimum one in-person campus meeting per semester - Complete at least one professional development session annually Requirements: - Academic degree in an appropriate discipline - Prior teaching experience required - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Ability to present complex material accessibly - Collaborative work capability across diverse backgrounds - Must effectively teach in all modalities (in-person, hybrid, online) Additional Qualifications: - Professional experience with GIS, remote sensing, or cartography - Working knowledge of GIS-related programming languages Compensation & Benefits: - Competitive salary based on experience and academic credentials - Comprehensive tuition remission for employee and dependents - Retirement plans (OPERS, STRS, or ARP with 14-18% UC contribution) - Health coverage (medical, dental, vision, prescription) - Paid time off including 11 holidays, vacation, sick time, and parental leave Skills: GIS, remote sensing, cartography, geography, spatial analysis, GIS programming
