Applications/Systems Engineer, Senior

Tacoma Public Utilities is hiring a Senior Applications/Systems Engineer to support the Outage Management System using GIS and related technologies. The role involves maintaining software requirements, system architecture, and technical documentation while collaborating across utility divisions on critical infrastructure projects. The engineer will provide Tier 1 system support to keep Tacoma's electric utility GIS environment operating reliably and integrate ESRI technologies with the broader OMS platform. Responsibilities include developing REST APIs, supporting ESRI Utility Network deployments, building ArcPy automation, maintaining ArcGIS Server services, managing SSL/TLS configurations, and participating in critical infrastructure projects. Key qualifications: bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, information systems, geography, or GIS; 4+ years supporting Tier 1 information systems; basic proficiency in JavaScript, VBScript, REST APIs, HTML, SQL, Java, Python; knowledge of Windows servers, SSL/TLS, ESRI technologies, and utility web platforms. Desired experience: REST API development, SolarWinds/ArcGIS monitoring tools, ESRI Utility Network, ArcPy scripting, electrical grid systems, and critical infrastructure support in utilities.
