The University of South Florida, School of Geosciences is seeking an Assistant Professor of Geographic Information Science (GIScience) with a start date of August 7, 2026. This tenure-track position involves teaching courses in GIS programming, spatial analysis, statistics, GeoAI, machine learning and web mapping at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will maintain an active research program, mentor graduate students, and contribute to the department's mission of advancing geospatial science. The School of Geosciences at USF is a dynamic academic unit with programs in Geography, Environmental Science and Policy, and Geology. Faculty are expected to pursue external research funding, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and engage in service to the department, college, university, and professional community. Required: Terminal/Doctorate degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, or closely related discipline at the time of hire. The candidate should have demonstrated research expertise in GIScience methods and applications. Teaching experience at the college level and evidence of scholarly productivity are preferred.
