Assistant Professor - Geographic Information Science

The School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida seeks an innovative scholar for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-earning Assistant Professor position in Geographic Information Science (GIScience), with a start date of August 7, 2026. The role emphasizes research in Geospatial Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and spatial statistics, particularly candidates bridging foundational research with solutions addressing global environmental challenges. Responsibilities include maintaining an active, externally funded research program; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in GIS programming, spatial analysis, statistics, GeoAI, machine learning, and web mapping; advising graduate students; and contributing to departmental services. Requires doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Geography, GIScience, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, or closely related field with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
