The Department of Geography & Sustainability Studies at SUNY College at Geneseo seeks a geographer specializing in global sustainable development and resiliency with expertise in areas such as disaster science, water resources, energy, consumerism and waste, or environmental planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate courses in human geography, sustainability, and specialized topics
- Advise undergraduate students
- Maintain an active research program appropriate for a teaching-focused institution
- Supervise undergraduate research and internships
- Serve on departmental and college committees
- Support sustainability program development
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Geography by September 1, 2026
- Primary expertise in one of five specified areas (disaster science, water resources, energy, consumerism/waste, environmental planning)
- Teaching experience as primary instructor
- Willingness to teach online
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active research program with peer-reviewed publications
- Research involving undergraduate students with external funding potential
- GIS, statistical computing, or data analytics skills
- Interest in non-traditional student programs
