Western Michigan University seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank within the School of Environment, Geography, and Sustainability, beginning August 2026. The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in geography and environmental studies, including introduction to geospatial technologies, cartographic design and geovisualization, remote sensing, unoccupied aircraft systems (UAS) applications, and geographic inquiry/research. The successful candidate will develop an externally-funded research program using geospatial technologies, mentor students, serve on thesis committees, and advance inclusion through publications, teaching, and service. Required qualifications include a PhD in Geography or related discipline with specialization in GIScience by August 14, 2026, demonstrated ability to teach geospatial technologies courses, and capacity to conduct research using geospatial tools. Desired qualifications encompass teaching experience in geospatial courses and an established research and publication record in GIScience.
