Backend Geospatial Software Engineer

Chesapeake Technology Inc is hiring a Backend Geospatial Software Engineer to architect cloud processing infrastructure for geospatial data. Candidates will design and implement scalable backend services for cloud-based geospatial data processing, build distributed pipelines using modern Python tools on AWS infrastructure, and support production-grade geospatial workflows. Core requirements: 3+ years Python backend engineering; production-level AWS expertise (S3, EC2/ECS, Lambda, Step Functions); hands-on experience with Dask and Xarray; geospatial data format proficiency (GeoTIFF, NetCDF, shapefiles); RESTful/GraphQL API development; Docker and Kubernetes containerization skills. Preferred qualifications: edge computing experience, AUV/robotics knowledge, marine survey familiarity, sonar data processing, ML/AI pipeline expertise, and U.S. security clearance eligibility. The role focuses on building scalable backend systems for processing satellite imagery, bathymetric data, and other geospatial sources used in maritime and environmental analytics.
