Coastal Habitat Intern

The Nature Conservancy seeks a Coastal Habitat Intern at the Nags Head Woods Preserve in North Carolina, collaborating with TNC's North Carolina Water Team at the Albemarle Pamlico Sounds Office. The role involves ecological restoration and monitoring with both hands-on field experience and computer-based work. Primary responsibilities include conducting coastal restoration site evaluation in terrestrial and aquatic habitats, assessing metrics to measure environmental change using existing datasets, performing shoreline assessment and identifying restoration projects, researching submerged aquatic vegetation propagation techniques and policy requirements, and delivering two summary reports and presenting findings after 8 weeks. Requirements include a high school diploma/GED plus 6 months related experience, commitment to ecological restoration, understanding of estuarine habitats, willingness to work in variable weather and remote locations, valid driver's license, and strong written and analytical communication skills. Desired qualifications include GIS/ArcGIS Pro experience, R statistical package knowledge, and spatial data modeling skills. Full-time hourly position, 35 hours/week for 8 weeks. Salary: $16.00/hour.
