The Nature Conservancy is seeking a Coastal Habitat Intern for an 8-week summer internship in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, engaging in ecological restoration and monitoring with both hands-on field experience and computer-based work. Responsibilities include assisting with coastal restoration site evaluation in terrestrial habitats (peatland) and aquatic communities (oyster reef); using datasets and reports to determine assessment metrics and compare prior conditions to field evaluations; conducting shoreline assessment at Nags Head Woods Preserve; researching submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) propagation; producing two deliverables including a restoration site evaluation summary and SAV propagation techniques report; and presenting findings to NC Water Team. Requires experience with GIS, analyzing data, developing spatial data models, databases and maps. Desired qualifications include ArcGIS Pro experience, R statistical package proficiency, and Microsoft Office skills. Full-time at 35 hours/week, $16.00/hour.
