Departmental Analyst 9-P11 (Fire Data Systems & GIS Analyst)

This position with the State of Michigan Bureau of Fire Services involves conducting reviews and analysis of the bureau's new geographic information system (GIS) and database to ensure overall efficiency. The analyst will study existing systems to identify how GIS can be implemented and recognize future enhancement needs. Key responsibilities include serving as the main contact with the Department of Technology, Management, and Esri during system development, implementation, and monitoring compliance. The role also encompasses creating training materials and coordinating instruction with fire departments, state agencies, and community businesses. A significant focus involves analyzing fire data statewide to identify trends supporting community risk reduction. The analyst will work extensively with the National Emergency Response Information System and serve as Michigan's subject matter expert for fire and emergency data, assisting local departments with data needs, preparing data-driven reports, and supporting strategies aimed at reducing fire-related injuries, fatalities, and property loss.
