This role focuses on conducting reviews, assessments, and analysis of the bureau's geographic information system (GIS) and database to ensure overall efficiency. The position serves as the primary liaison with the Department of Technology, Management, and Esri during GIS system development and enhancement. Key responsibilities include analyzing fire data across Michigan to identify community risk reduction trends, working with the National Emergency Response Information System, and serving as the state's subject matter expert for fire and emergency data. The analyst will assist local departments with data needs, create data-driven reports, and support statewide strategies for reducing fire-related injuries and fatalities. Additional duties involve developing training materials and coordinating instruction with fire departments, state agencies, and community organizations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any major required; experience varies by level (9, 10, or P11). Preferred degrees in GIS, geography, data science, computer science, statistics, or public administration. Professional GIS certifications (Esri Technical, GISP) and data analytics certifications (Power BI, Tableau) preferred. Salary: $25.85 - $40.51 per hour.
