FAO Malawi is seeking to recruit the project's Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) for the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework for Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Forests and Agriculture (MELBA Malawi) project, funded by the Government of Norway and implemented over four years (2026-2029). The CTA will be the overall technical lead of the project in Malawi, responsible for leading all technical activities. In addition, the CTA will work as the Geospatial Expert for the EbAM Project and will lead in the designing and deploying of a Spatial Information Management System (SIMS) customized for the EbAM Project. Key responsibilities include leading the design and operationalization of a SIMS that enables systematic collection, geo-referencing, and integration of biophysical, socio-economic, and ecosystem service data for MEL efforts; leading catchment delineation and conducting spatially explicit vulnerability and ecosystem risk hotspot assessments; generating high-resolution maps of priority micro-catchments to inform site-specific, ecosystem-based adaptation strategies; supervising national and district coordinators; stakeholder engagement with government agencies and research institutions. Requires an advanced degree in geography, GIS, remote sensing, environmental science, forestry, or related fields. Minimum 10 years in project management for ecosystem-based adaptation/nature-based solutions and 5+ years in monitoring/evaluation with geospatial analysis focus.
