The Environmental Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst works within the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University. The role is duty-stationed in Fort Collins, CO, as part of the US Air Force Environmental GIS project (AFEnvGIS) and serves multiple technical and support functions including: reach back support (RBS) for off-campus GIS Analysts, technical support as required by the Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC), data development, assistance and support for data maintenance, and Quality Control (QC) and oversight to ensure Data Integrity (DI) for over 100 USAF installations. Essential job duties: provide reach back support to ISS GIS Analysts and AFCEC support team leads, including troubleshooting technical issues, learning new software/technology, and developing best tools and techniques for GIS processes; design cartographic products to support a variety of environmental projects and tasks, including map books, story maps, developing and maintaining web applications and data on the AF Geo-portal, and creating project map templates or other presentation materials; conduct spatial analysis and spatial modeling in support of CEMML environmental projects; develop efficient methods and technical processes to complete data management tasks, utilizing automation techniques where practical and evaluating data quality; download and process data from USAF authoritative databases for distribution to off-site GIS Analysts in support of quarterly data maintenance; collect and process data for large-scale data calls and deliveries; and prepare written documentation of technical processes and training/support materials. Conditions of employment include a pre-employment criminal background check, a valid driver's license, and ability to pass the DoD federal background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship. Some positions may require fully in-person work; hybrid arrangements may be possible in other instances. Travel to selected Air Force installations may be required. Salary $55,000 - $60,000 per year.
