Randall's Island Park Alliance seeks an Environmental Research Coordinator to facilitate the Park-as-Lab research initiative, transforming urban park spaces into living laboratories. The coordinator transforms park data into actionable knowledge, from research design and data collection to interpretation of findings, partnering with academic institutions and community organizations. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing data collection efforts using natural and social sciences approaches, developing research protocols and methodologies for urban ecology projects, collaborating with researchers and academic partners, maintaining organized research records and datasets, presenting findings to community boards and academic conferences, creating digital outreach materials communicating research outcomes, supporting citizen science initiatives, integrating data-driven insights across park departments, and recruiting and mentoring interns and volunteers. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or related field, 2-3 years environmental research experience (preferably urban parks or community outreach), proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS/Google Earth), competence with data analysis tools (R or Python), valid driver's license. Preferred: Master's degree, advanced GIS and statistical analysis proficiency, grant writing experience. Full-time, 40 hours/week. Salary: $25.00-$29.80/hour with comprehensive benefits.
