The Nature Conservancy seeks a Forest Conservation Technician for a 10-week seasonal position in the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, spanning Jackson County north to Ashe County. Responsibilities include treating non-native invasive plant species; forest stand improvement with midstory removal and vine control; wetland restoration and woody seedling removal; collecting forest inventory and monitoring data; stand layout and planning; tree marking/flagging for release; herbicide application for invasive species and silviculture; pre- and post-treatment efficacy surveys; and using GPS device and/or GIS applications for data collection, surveying, and planning purposes. Requires high school diploma/GED plus 6 months related experience, or enrollment in college degree program in forestry/natural resources. Familiarity with native tree species and ecosystems common to the Southern Appalachians required. Desired qualifications include experience with mobile devices equipped with GIS/GPS systems, tree identification skills, and forest measurement experience. Full-time position from May 26 to August 14, 2026 at $18.00/hour. Benefits include health care, 401(k) with 8% employer match, and paid time off.
