Forest Health Seasonal Forestry Technician

This seasonal role supports wildfire resilience and forest health projects across California's Eastern Sierra for a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The technician handles field and office work spanning 5-7 months (typically May-November), including monitoring, contract administration, and forest restoration planning. Project Preparation and Planning (40%) includes marking trees for removal/retention and delineating unit boundaries, assessing timber volume per USFS standards, and flagging and spatially recording project areas. Contract Administration (30%) includes inspecting forestry work compliance, conducting wildlife and botanical surveys, and performing post-operation rehabilitation. Environmental and Data Work (30%) includes collecting forestry stand exam data, executing botanical and wildlife surveys, and monitoring pre/post-treatment conditions. Applicants must demonstrate competence in ArcGIS Online, Survey123, GPS devices, and tablets to record spatial and tabular data. Preferred skills include ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, FS Cruiser, and TwoTrails software. Requires a Bachelor's degree in natural resources OR 1+ year relevant field experience. Salary: $24-$28 per hour.
