This GS-7 to GS-11 position serves as a technical specialist in support of the District Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program and Environmental Engineering Section, utilizing professional knowledge of geography and related disciplines including surveying, geodesy, photogrammetry, mapping, engineering, and automated systems to accomplish District surveying, mapping and GIS tasks. Core duties include conducting site visits and coordinating environmental data collection, compiling and analyzing data relationships, creating geospatial databases and mapping products, and developing layouts for graphic displays of scientific data. Basic qualification requirements: Bachelor's degree in geography or related field (geology, cartography, computer science) with at least 24 semester hours in geography, or equivalent work experience combined with education. Grade-specific requirements: GS-7 requires one year GIS experience; GS-9 requires broader GIS experience plus independent project work; GS-11 requires advanced GIS expertise with problem-solving capability. Salary range: $56,490 to $108,678 per year.
