The County of Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services is hiring a Geographic Information Systems Analyst / Data Engineering specialist. This role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines between production databases and cloud-hosted platforms. The analyst develops GIS visualizations in Power BI, generates reports from Oracle databases, maintains geospatial layers, and writes Python scripts for geocoding workflows used in DCFS service delivery. Key responsibilities: create Power BI visualizations and custom DAX fields from Oracle databases; generate ad hoc reports using SQL, Excel pivot tables, and PostGIS queries; operate and debug Python geocoding scripts for address location workflows; maintain geospatial databases on PostgreSQL servers via AWS; work with development teams on JavaScript and geospatial web APIs; research and implement emerging geospatial technologies. Qualifications: Option 1: Bachelor's in GIS/Geography/related field (18+ semester or 27+ quarter units) PLUS 6 months GIS internship or data engineering experience; Option 2: Associate's in GIS/related field (18+ semester or 27+ quarter units) PLUS 3 years data engineering experience with GIS tools; Alternative: GIS Certificate Program (18+ semester or 27+ quarter units).
