The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health is hiring a Geographic Information Systems Analyst to perform professional duties supporting GIS databases and capabilities. Primary responsibilities include composing GIS products including maps, shape files, and reports; extracting, organizing, and verifying data accuracy; developing cartographic symbology and design elements; performing spatial analyses such as buffering and overlays; maintaining and updating geospatial databases; converting data formats and geocoding addresses; researching and correcting data problems; assisting in GIS application design and testing; operating GIS hardware including plotters and scanners; and collecting field data using GPS equipment. Candidates must meet one of four qualification options: (I) Bachelor's degree in GIS/Geography plus 6 months GIS experience, (II) Associate's degree in GIS/Geography (18+ semester units) plus 3 years technical GIS support experience, (III) 2 years experience at GIS Technician II level, or (IV) Master's degree or higher in GIS/Geography or related field. Requires valid California Class C Driver License. Desirable qualifications include GIS project planning, geospatial data management, and custom map generation experience. Applications accepted on a continuous basis. Salary range: $92,175.36-$117,649.20 annually.
