The National Trust for Historic Preservation is seeking a GIS Intern for Summer 2026 to support the Research & Development Department. The internship runs from June 1 to July 24, 2026, approximately 28 hours per week, performed remotely with a $4,000 stipend. The intern will engage in multiple GIS facets including data research, collection, editing, analysis, and mapping. Responsibilities include conducting geospatial research and analysis for priority projects, compiling and creating metadata for geospatial resources in an open data repository, creating customized web maps and mapping tools presenting GIS analysis findings, researching and collecting GIS data on historic preservation sites at local and state levels, maintaining feature services and map content within ArcGIS Online and Enterprise environments, and contributing to ArcGIS StoryMaps and web map creation. Requires bachelor's-level studies (current or rising juniors, seniors, or graduate students preferred), demonstrated interest in historic preservation or cultural heritage, proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, basic analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively in remote environments. Applicants must provide their own computer capable of running ArcGIS Pro 3.x (software licenses provided).
