Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician I - Intern

Washington County's Land Use & Transportation Department is hiring a limited-duration Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician I - Intern. The role involves cartographic production and geospatial data maintenance related to road and transportation asset management. The position requires significant attention to detail and commitment to accuracy with repetitive data entry tasks in both GIS applications and the County's Enterprise Asset Management System. Ideal candidates are familiar with cartographic production fundamentals and data maintenance, proficient in ArcGIS Pro (geo-referencing, querying, editing), strong problem-solvers with communication skills, comfortable collaborating with engineers, technicians, developers, and government agencies. Knowledge of engineering/transportation terminology preferred. Requires AA degree or 2 years college-level coursework in GIS, engineering technology, computer technology, geography, or related field, OR 2 years hands-on GIS systems and applications experience. Limited-duration position expected to last approximately three months with possibility of extension. Anticipated start date: 06/15/2026. Salary: $27.89 - $35.59 per hour.
