Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Geospatial Analyst to join the Geographic Information Science and Technology group. This position involves conducting advanced geospatial analysis to support national security, energy, and environmental research missions. Key responsibilities include developing and applying geospatial analysis techniques to complex research problems, creating and managing large-scale geospatial databases, performing remote sensing analysis using multispectral and LiDAR data, developing Python-based geospatial processing workflows, creating interactive web mapping applications and dashboards, collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams on spatial data integration, supporting emergency response and disaster management through rapid geospatial analysis, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications and technical reports. Requirements include a Master's degree in geography, GIS, remote sensing, or related field (PhD preferred), plus 3-5 years of experience in geospatial analysis. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, Python (with geopandas, rasterio, GDAL), and web mapping frameworks required. Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) and big data processing preferred.
