Amnesty International is seeking a Geospatial and Remote Sensing Advisor to join their Crisis Response team in London. This permanent position involves using advanced GIS, remote sensing, and earth observation expertise to investigate and document human rights violations worldwide. Key responsibilities include conducting satellite imagery analysis to document conflict damage, displacement, and environmental destruction, developing geospatial methodologies for human rights investigations, analyzing multi-temporal satellite imagery to detect changes in infrastructure and landscapes, creating maps and geospatial visualizations for advocacy reports and legal proceedings, training researchers and investigators in geospatial analysis techniques, managing relationships with commercial satellite imagery providers, developing open-source geospatial intelligence (OSINT) workflows, providing expert testimony and geospatial evidence for international legal mechanisms, and staying current with emerging remote sensing technologies and their applications for human rights. Requirements include a degree in geography, GIS, remote sensing, or related field, extensive experience in satellite imagery analysis and interpretation, proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools (ERDAS IMAGINE, ENVI), experience with open-source geospatial tools and web mapping platforms, knowledge of international humanitarian law and human rights frameworks preferred.
