Sanborn Map Company is seeking a Geospatial Sensor Operator for their Flight Operations department. This role involves operating advanced aerial sensor systems including LiDAR, digital cameras, and hyperspectral imaging equipment during airborne data acquisition missions. Key responsibilities include operating geospatial sensor systems during flight missions, monitoring data acquisition quality in real-time, performing pre-flight calibration and equipment checks, coordinating with pilots on flight plans and data collection parameters, processing raw sensor data and performing initial quality assessment, maintaining sensor equipment and troubleshooting technical issues, documenting mission parameters and data collection metadata, and ensuring data meets project specifications and accuracy requirements. Requirements include experience with aerial remote sensing systems, knowledge of GPS/GNSS positioning and inertial measurement units (IMU), familiarity with LiDAR and digital camera systems, ability to travel for extended field deployments, physical ability to work in aircraft environments, strong technical aptitude and attention to detail. Experience with geospatial data processing software and aviation operations preferred. Sanborn operates a fleet of aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art sensor technology for mapping and surveying projects nationwide.
