The California Geological Survey (CGS) is seeking a GIS Analyst I (Research Data Analyst I) to provide GIS support for the Seismic Hazards Unit, the Forest and Watershed Geology Program, and the Mineral Resources Programs. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining geospatial datasets related to seismic hazards and geological mapping, performing spatial analysis for earthquake fault zone delineation, producing maps and visualizations for geological publications and reports, managing geodatabases containing geological survey data, supporting field geologists with GIS data collection tools and workflows, and developing web mapping applications for public-facing geological data. Requires a Bachelor's degree with coursework in GIS, geography, geology, or related fields. Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro and geodatabase management preferred. Knowledge of geological mapping principles and California geology is valuable. Must be eligible for California civil service employment. This position offers an opportunity to apply GIS skills to critical public safety geological programs.
