GIS Analyst

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking a GIS Analyst to perform research and analysis based on geographic information systems techniques, including complex work utilizing GIS methods such as Python scripting, Java scripting, C#, SQL, and development of geospatial data, imagery, applications, tools and models. The position involves learning and maintaining working knowledge of GIS Software and related technologies in desktop, mobile and cloud platforms. Key responsibilities include creating GIS datasets, maintaining online GIS applications, making maps using GIS software, configuring online GIS web applications, and working closely with other staff to extract data or help manage the GIS infrastructure. This position supports Caltrans transportation planning, design, and operations through geospatial technology. Required: Eligibility through the California state examination process.
