The City of Glendale Water & Power (Water Engineering Division) seeks a GIS Analyst for a mid-management classification that performs technical work in the maintenance of computerized data for Geographic Information System (GIS) and associated functions. This is an open/promotional examination position with a one-year probationary period. Core Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain GIS databases and applications. Utilize ESRI products for spatial analysis, data input, editing, and maintenance. Collect GPS field data for city infrastructure across water utility systems. Develop custom GIS queries and perform spatial analyses. Generate maps, reports, and data visualizations for stakeholders. Manage City infrastructure databases and perform quality control. Scan and digitize records and engineering drawings. Provide training and guidance to City staff on GIS functions. Support GIS applications and coordinate with stakeholders across departments. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field. Experience: Four years designing, implementing, and maintaining GIS databases and applications. License: Valid California Class C driver's license required. Desirable: GISP Certification, Esri Technical Certification, or water engineering experience. Required Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency with ArcGIS suite, spatial analysis techniques, database administration (SQL/Oracle), GPS data collection, and cartography. Must communicate effectively, manage technical staff, read engineering drawings, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain ethical standards. Selection Process: Oral interview (100% weight); candidates must score minimum 70% to qualify. Background check including Livescan fingerprinting required.
