GIS and AI Solutions Specialist

UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) is seeking a GIS and AI Solutions Specialist for a remote, home-based position worldwide. The role reports to the IM Team Lead and focuses on technical development across multiple areas: GIS and Remote Sensing Services including maintaining and optimizing scalable GIS systems using ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, Google Earth Engine, and OpenStreetMap, designing and implementing modular geospatial workflows for real-time monitoring and spatial reporting, expanding UNOPS Global GIS Service Centre services, and overseeing data pipelines covering health facilities, infrastructure, and urban assets. Research & Development including supporting advanced geospatial technology R&D including satellite remote sensing and machine learning, developing predictive modeling for explosive ordnance risk mitigation, and conducting satellite image analysis for land use and environmental monitoring. AI/Machine Learning including building AI/ML pipelines using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Vertex AI, and BigQuery, automating detection through NLP-driven analysis. Requires Master's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, Data Science, or related field with 5 years experience or Bachelor's with 7 years. Proven expertise in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, Esri Enterprise, Google Earth Engine, PostGIS required.
