IUCN Bangladesh is hiring a GIS Assistant to support the Updating Faunal Red List of Bangladesh Project, reassessing species and evaluating new faunal groups using the latest IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria. Responsibilities include supporting species distribution mapping and extent of occurrence/area of occupancy calculations; assisting habitat suitability and threat mapping; generating standardized national-level distribution maps; compiling, cleaning, and organizing geospatial datasets; maintaining spatial databases and metadata; ensuring quality control and secure data storage; integrating spatial data into the Red List web database; producing maps, figures, and infographics for publications; assisting field surveys involving GPS data collection; providing technical workshop support; supporting M&E tracking and reporting; and coordinating with Red List teams on spatial data needs. Requires Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Forestry, Zoology, or related fields with strong academic record, or Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years relevant experience. Strong practical experience with GIS software (QGIS and/or ArcGIS), remote sensing, and earth observation required. Fixed-term contract up to 12 months with possibility of renewal. Grade A2.
