Stewards Individual Placements, a program of Conservation Legacy, is hiring a GIS Cartography and Data Management Steward through AmeriCorps to support the National Park Service's Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program across the 13-state Midwest region. The steward will provide technical GIS support for a variety of RTCA community assistance projects, including cartographic design, data management, and geospatial analysis for parks and trails initiatives. Responsibilities include creating cartographic products for RTCA community partners, building and maintaining geodatabases, conducting spatial analysis to support trail and conservation planning, designing maps and StoryMaps to communicate project outcomes, and supporting data quality and metadata standards for the regional NPS GIS environment. Stewards are hosted in partnership with the NPS GIS office as part of a cohort of GIS stewards, with weekly cohort meetings and a capstone presentation to the NPS GIS community at the end of the placement. Located at the NPS Midwest Regional Office in Omaha, NE, with remote/field office options in Duluth, MN; St. Paul, MN; or Van Buren, MO. Service dates: June 1, 2026 through November 13, 2026. Requirements: U.S. citizenship or permanent residency; minimum age 18; high school diploma or equivalent; enrollment at higher education institution or within two years of graduation; federal security background clearance required.
