Stewards Individual Placements, a program of Conservation Legacy, is hiring a GIS Cultural Resources Steward through AmeriCorps to support the Cultural Resources Division at Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. The steward will manage geospatial data documenting the park's diverse historic and archeological landscape dating back at least 3,000 years before present. Key responsibilities include establishing data collection workflows for NPS geodatabases; using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems for cultural resource survey; developing standards for spatial data management and sharing across the park's archeological program; participating in weekly GIS team meetings and cohort sessions with the NPS GIS community; and designing a capstone presentation for the NPS GIS community at the end of the placement. Service period: June 1, 2026 through November 13, 2026 (675 hours). Compensation: living allowance of $600/week, plus $120/week additional benefit, plus $2,817.14 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. Requirements: U.S. citizen or permanent resident; age 18+; high school diploma or equivalent; pass National Service Criminal History Check; currently enrolled in higher education or within two years of graduation.
