GIS Developer

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a GIS Developer to support geospatial software development for defense and intelligence applications. This position involves designing and building geospatial applications, developing data processing pipelines, and integrating spatial analysis capabilities into enterprise systems. Key responsibilities include developing web-based geospatial applications using modern JavaScript frameworks and mapping libraries, building backend geospatial data processing services using Python and Java, integrating with ArcGIS Enterprise and open-source geospatial platforms (GeoServer, PostGIS), developing ETL pipelines for processing satellite imagery and vector data, implementing OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS, WMTS) for geospatial data services, creating REST APIs for geospatial data access and analysis, optimizing spatial database queries and indexing for performance, supporting DevOps workflows with containerized geospatial applications, and participating in agile development sprints and code reviews. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in computer science, GIS, geography, or related field, plus 3+ years of software development experience with geospatial technologies. Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and SQL required. Experience with geospatial libraries (GDAL, Shapely, GeoPandas) and web mapping frameworks (Leaflet, MapboxGL, Cesium) preferred.
