GIS Intern

WorldFish, a CGIAR research center, seeks a GIS Intern based at its headquarters in Batu Maung, Penang, Malaysia. The intern supports the sourcing, organization, management, and analysis of geospatial datasets for research across WorldFish's project countries. Key responsibilities include building a spatial data inventory, running data quality checks, conducting GIS analysis, producing maps, and maintaining geospatial databases. Required qualifications: a diploma or degree in GIS or a related field; practical GIS software experience (QGIS or ArcGIS Pro); an understanding of geospatial concepts; familiarity with data management; English proficiency; and strong analytical skills. Desirable skills include programming in R or Python, remote sensing, open-source geospatial platforms, knowledge of aquatic food systems, and map visualization experience. The on-site internship runs until 31 December 2026 and provides a monthly stipend; it is open to Malaysia-based applicants.
