GIS Mapper/Land Information Officer (LIO)

Washburn County is seeking a GIS Mapper/Land Information Officer (LIO) responsible for the development and implementation of Washburn County's Geographic Information System. Primary duties include creating GIS layers, coordinating with users, and assisting departments with land-related inquiries. Key responsibilities include parcel mapping, interpreting legal descriptions, managing 911 addressing, maintaining the Master Street Address Guide, and overseeing WLIP (Wisconsin Land Information Program) grant administration. The position also involves coordinating multi-departmental GIS efforts and providing technical support to county departments. Requirements: Four-year degree in GIS, Cartography, or Geography plus two years of relevant experience, OR a two-year degree with four years of professional development. Essential skills include Arc Info/ArcGIS proficiency, understanding of the Public Land Survey System, GPS knowledge, and valid Wisconsin driver's license. Work involves both office and field environments, requiring ability to negotiate uneven terrain and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Fieldwork uses Trimble Pro XR GPS and other surveying equipment. Salary: $26.30 - $32.21 per hour. Open until filled.
