GIS Specialist - Public Works

The City of Chesapeake Public Works Department seeks a detail-oriented GIS Specialist to manage geospatial data for the City's stormwater and transportation systems. Responsibilities include geospatial data creation and maintenance, configuring web mapping applications, performing spatial analysis, creating maps and information products, and maintaining infrastructure data from a variety of sources. The specialist works with ESRI ArcGIS products in an enterprise environment, provides end-user GIS support, and assists during emergency operations. Minimum qualifications: a bachelor's degree in geographic information systems or a closely related field plus a minimum of two years of full-time related experience. Preferred: a geospatial sciences degree, knowledge of government operations or city planning, ability to interpret construction drawings and surveys, and ESRI technical certifications. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; employees may work beyond scheduled hours during city-wide emergencies.
