GIS Specialist

The GIS Specialist position sits within the Cobb County Department of Transportation's Traffic Engineering Division and involves compiling, organizing, inputting, verifying, and reporting spatial geographic information system data layers. Key Responsibilities: Create presentation-quality maps and plots; analyze and integrate geographic data from multiple sources; query databases and conduct analysis of datasets; produce digital statistics; perform mapping functions including graphic editing, topology building, and database updates; maintain geospatial databases by collecting, verifying, and updating information from various sources; provide customer service by responding to data requests and coordinating with other government representatives; collect data using GPS, imagery, and other methods. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED plus vocational or technical training in Geographic Information Science or related field, supplemented by one year of GIS data maintenance experience. Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license; ability to perform light physical work with extended keyboard time; color perception and oral communication skills. Compensation: $22.59-$28.80 hourly.
