Penn State University's Department of Geography seeks a GIS Specialist to support teaching, research, and service activities. This position involves managing geospatial data infrastructure, supporting faculty research projects, and assisting with GIS instruction in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs. Key responsibilities include maintaining and administering the department's GIS computing lab and server infrastructure, supporting faculty research with geospatial data acquisition, processing, and analysis, assisting with GIS course instruction and student project support, managing ArcGIS Enterprise site license and cloud environments, developing web mapping applications for research dissemination, processing remote sensing data including satellite imagery and LiDAR, maintaining spatial data repositories and metadata catalogs, providing technical support for field data collection campaigns, and coordinating with university IT on GIS infrastructure and security. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, or related field (master's preferred), plus 3+ years of professional GIS experience. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS platform and Python scripting required. Experience with remote sensing data processing, web GIS development, and database administration preferred.
