The State of Vermont is seeking a GIS Specialist within the Department of Public Service to support the state's broadband and telecommunications initiatives. This position is responsible for acquiring, managing, and analyzing GIS datasets including imagery, elevation, hydrographic, and parcel data. Key duties include developing broadband availability maps and geospatial visualizations, building interactive web mapping applications and static maps, creating repeatable workflows for data science and analytics, providing technical GIS support to state agencies, and conducting training on GIS data and analytical techniques. Minimum qualifications include six years of professional experience in research, data analysis, or economics, with educational substitutions allowed (bachelor's degrees provide up to 4 years credit, master's degrees in related fields substitute one additional year). Preferred qualifications include experience with government work, workflow documentation, technical communication, specific data types (parcel, raster, utility), geospatial visualizations, web content management, data processing, and GIS software including ArcGIS, SQL, Python, R, JavaScript, and FME.
