The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a GIS Specialist to support the department's geospatial data management and analysis needs. This position involves maintaining the state's transportation GIS infrastructure, developing mapping applications, and performing spatial analyses for highway planning and construction projects. Key responsibilities include maintaining and updating the statewide roadway network database, developing web mapping applications for public and internal use, performing spatial analyses to support transportation planning and safety programs, creating maps and geospatial products for project development and environmental review, managing ArcGIS Enterprise environments and spatial data services, developing automated data processing workflows using Python and FME, supporting mobile GIS solutions for field data collection and asset inspection, coordinating with federal agencies (FHWA, FEMA) on geospatial data standards, and training department staff on GIS tools and best practices. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, or related field, plus experience in transportation GIS operations. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS platform required.
