The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), the region's largest nonprofit focused on bay conservation established in 1966, seeks a GIS Summer Intern to be based at the Philip Merrill Environmental Center in Annapolis, Maryland. During this 10-week summer position, the intern will support the GIS team by creating maps and visualizations using ESRI software for static and interactive presentations, conducting spatial analysis using ArcGIS Desktop tools including Spatial Analyst, managing geospatial data according to program guidelines and providing data entry support, and assisting with field work for data collection initiatives across CBF programs. The intern will use ESRI GIS software to create compelling static and interactive maps that support staff initiatives, customize web mapping applications to enhance the organization's web presence, and use spatial analysis tools to analyze CBF data and other sources of raster and vector data. Required qualifications include being a current student pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree (graduating Spring 2026 to Spring 2028), completion of at least two GIS courses, a major in Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Earth Science, or related field, working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Hub, and Survey123, and a demonstrated commitment to environmental work.
