GIS Technician I

The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency is seeking a GIS Technician I to support the agency's Geographic Information System operations. This entry-level position performs routine technical work including data preparation, maintenance, conversion, collection, and updates for GIS applications. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining GIS databases using quality control procedures, recording, interpreting, and digitizing survey maps and legal descriptions, conducting field surveying with Trimble GPS equipment, editing water network data using AutoCAD drawings and as-builts, converting physical water maps to electronic formats, generating GIS products such as maps, graphics, and reports, and operating computers, plotters, printers, and scanning equipment. Requires Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, or related field, OR Associate's degree in GIS/geography plus 2 years technical GIS experience, OR 4 years full-time technical GIS experience. Valid California Class C driver's license required. Key skills: ArcGIS, AutoCAD, SQL databases, GPS equipment, mathematical calculations, blueprint interpretation. Salary: $6,935 - $8,450 per month.
