Land Cover and GIS Expert

FAO's Sub-Regional Office for West Africa (SFW) is recruiting a national Land Cover and GIS Expert based in Dakar, Senegal, on an up-to-11-month non-staff (national project personnel) contract. The incumbent coordinates regional land cover and land use mapping activities and provides technical GIS and remote sensing support to West African countries. Responsibilities include organizing stakeholder meetings and field data collection campaigns, classifying satellite imagery, developing training materials, building capacity in participating countries, and producing and managing geospatial datasets using Google Earth Engine and the SEPAL platform. Requirements: a bachelor's degree in a related technical field (geography, environmental science, remote sensing or similar), at least 5 years of GIS and remote sensing experience, fluency in French (level C) and working knowledge of English (level B), and Senegalese nationality.
