Sanborn Map Company is hiring a LiDAR Analyst for their LiDAR department. The role involves processing, analyzing, and quality-checking LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) point cloud data for mapping and geospatial projects. Key responsibilities include classifying and editing LiDAR point clouds, generating digital elevation models (DEMs) and digital surface models (DSMs), performing quality control on LiDAR-derived products, creating breaklines and hydro-flattened surfaces, processing LiDAR data to meet USGS 3DEP and other federal specifications, supporting aerial survey missions with pre-flight and post-flight data analysis, developing automated LiDAR processing workflows, and documenting procedures and metadata. Requirements include knowledge of LiDAR processing software such as TerraScan, TerraSolid, LP360, or similar tools, understanding of photogrammetric principles and remote sensing technology, familiarity with geospatial data formats, coordinate systems, and projections, proficiency in ArcGIS and/or Global Mapper, strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, geomatics, surveying, or related field preferred. Founded in 1866, Sanborn is one of the oldest continuously operating mapping and geospatial companies in the US.
