Wageningen University & Research (WUR) seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance forest disturbance monitoring using long-wavelength radar data from missions like NISAR and BIOMASS. The researcher will develop and validate radar methods for detecting forest changes, analyze European forest dynamics (including harvest, fire, wind damage, and beetle infestation), and support the operational RADD alert system. The role involves preprocessing multi-frequency radar data, conducting time-series analysis, and publishing findings while collaborating with international partners. Working at the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing, the postdoc will contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of satellite remote sensing, machine learning, and forest ecology. Qualifications include a PhD in remote sensing, geoinformatics, environmental science, or a closely related field; strong programming skills in Python; experience with SAR data processing; and a publication track record. Salary: euro 3,546 to euro 5,538 monthly (scale 10, based on experience). Hours: 38 per week. Contract: initial one-year position, extendable up to three years. Contact: Dr. Johannes Reiche. Interviews scheduled first week of June 22, 2026. Application deadline: June 12, 2026.
