The San Diego Natural History Museum seeks a Research Associate & GIS Specialist for a part-time, temporary position (approximately 20 hours/week until June 30, 2027). The role involves four primary focus areas: GIS Data Management (25%) - compile, clean, and manage geospatial datasets related to coastal dunes and canyon systems and conduct spatial analyses for restoration planning; Mapping & Reporting (30%) - develop publication-quality maps for site plans and create visualizations for stakeholder meetings and community workshops; Literature Review (20%) - review scientific literature on coastal dunes, canyons, and climate adaptation and maintain reference databases; Community Outreach (25%) - support logistics for meetings, field visits, and engagement activities with emphasis on disadvantaged communities. Required qualifications: two years minimum college experience, advanced proficiency with Esri ArcGIS software (Pro, Online, Spatial Analyst, Field Maps), and knowledge of San Diego County's biodiversity and climate risks.
