This position supports the Shoreline Mapping Unit by producing high-quality marine shoreline datasets for Puget Sound, applying shoreline mapping protocols, imagery interpretation, and geospatial analysis. The role advances a statewide mapping initiative established through recent legislation. Key duties include conducting shoreline condition mapping using aerial imagery; applying and refining mapping techniques and workflows; performing geospatial and statistical analyses; preparing spatial data and metadata for public release; producing maps and graphics for reports; supporting quality assurance and documentation; and collaborating with scientists, engineers, tribes, and agency partners. Requires seven years of relevant experience combining research in coastal mapping, GIS, surveying, geomorphology, photogrammetry, imagery interpretation, or coastal science, including work in at least two areas: geomorphic feature mapping using GIS, database management, ArcGIS spatial analysis, or imagery interpretation/manipulation. Education can substitute for experience (e.g., 3 years plus Bachelor's degree, 1 year plus Master's degree). Desired qualifications include ArcGIS Pro proficiency, Puget Sound coastal science familiarity, workflow automation with Python or Model Builder. Salary: $66,372-$89,316 annually with 5% increase if assigned to King County. Full-time permanent, flexible/hybrid remote arrangement. Open until filled.
