The City of Spokane is hiring a Temporary Seasonal Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician to perform technical spatial data processing work including data creation, manipulation, and cartographic/data output utilizing geographic information systems. The role is sedentary office-based work with typical Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM hours. Employees work under general supervision and gain independence as experience accumulates. Primary responsibilities include spatial analysis, database construction, data quality control, map design and production, GPS field data collection, and resolving database errors. Employees also prepare GIS documentation and handle special projects involving spatial and tabular data queries. The technician supports city departments by producing cartographic products, maintaining geodatabases, and assisting with seasonal mapping projects across Spokane's GIS environment. Required qualifications: completion of two years of college (90 quarter or 60 semester hours) in GIS, engineering, computer science, geography, planning, or related fields, AND two years of experience with Esri GIS software applications; valid driver's license; education and experience requirements are substitutable year-for-year.
