The School of Earth, Environment, & Sustainability (SEES) at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Geographic Information Science with an anticipated start date of August 19, 2026. The position seeks a scholar whose research develops innovative GIScience methods to investigate the complex dynamics of human-environment interactions, with particular interest in those advancing theory in spatio-temporal modeling, GeoAI, or geospatial foundation models. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in GIS and spatial analysis, maintain an active externally funded research program, mentor graduate students, and contribute to the intellectual life of the new interdisciplinary school combining Geographical and Sustainability Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Environmental Sciences. The University of Iowa is an AAU member institution with strong support for research and teaching. Required: PhD in Geography, GIScience, or related field at the time of appointment.
