Assistant Professor of Geographic Information Sciences

Western Illinois University's Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Geographic Information Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Geographic Information Sciences, with specialization in Geographic Information Science and Remote Sensing. This is a 9-month appointment beginning August 20, 2026 in Macomb, IL. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct research with scholarly publications, direct students in graduate and undergraduate research, engage in service to the University and community, and partner with the campus GIS Center. Required qualifications: earned doctorate in Geographic Information Science, Geography, or related fields by the appointment start date. Preferred qualifications include innovative teaching practices, demonstrated excellence in instruction, creative GIS contributions, and experience with remote sensing data and varied instructional formats.
