This position serves as the Public Safety GIS Data Specialist within the Interagency Communications Center of the Division of Visitor and Resource Protection at Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA). The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of professional Geographic Information System (GIS) work for the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communications Center.
Major duties of the Geographer (Geographic Information System) position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in performing professional Geographic Information System (GIS) work.
- Perform GIS data management, system support, and collaborative project work.
- Perform spatial analysis and cartography work for public safety operations.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Pay scale & grade: GS 9, with promotion potential to GS 11. Salary $63,046 - $81,964 per year. Occupational series: 0150 Geography. Work schedule: Full-time, permanent appointment in the Competitive Service. Telework eligible as determined by agency policy; this is not a remote job. Travel not required. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
Conditions of employment: Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct Deposit participation required. Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Subject to a drug test. Position sensitivity and risk: Noncritical-Sensitive (NCS)/Moderate Risk; background check type is Credentialing and Suitability/Fitness. A one-year probationary period is required. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
